Over the past few months, our team has been wrestling with how we share our insights, stories, and experiences as an organization with the community. Sharing the victories of the women in our program keeps us going and shows our supporters that healing is possible. Advocating for the needs of women we meet on outreach reminds us and our community that exploitation is alive and rampant locally. These things are important and honestly essential to our organization, but we dream for more
John Dewey once said, “We don’t learn from experience… we learn from reflecting on experience.” If we’re not learning from the harsh realities we see almost every day, then how can we expect to grow as people, as an organization, and as a community? More than that, if we do not make it a priority to reflect on these experiences and how each woman’s story, each outreach, each conversation shapes our mission and vision, then what impact are we even hoping to make? By sharing what we’re learning and how it’s shaping our development as an organization, we’re inviting you into the process with us– to learn, reflect, and stretch our ways of thinking beyond our current understanding. We hope that you’ll enjoy the journey with us. |
